Mounce Bird

7 Aug 1766 Served in the Frederick Co Militia as a Lt.

Mounce Bird also served during the Revolution, as a Captain in Jacob Holeman's company and was granted at least two tracts of land in Kentucky. Two thousand acres in what is now Bourbon & Harrison Counties, and another 1000 acres in what is now Fayette Co.

Shenandoah Co DB #, p.435: Mounce Bird gave power of attorney to his son Abraham and sent him to Kentucky in 1786 to oversee the division of his land there among his three sons.

Court case in Augusta Co VA. Hawkins vs. Byrd. Bill, 1813. Mountz Byrd died intestate leaving the widow Clara and 8 children: Abraham, William, Mountz, John, Ingabough married to Isaac Gore, Sarah married to John Moore, Mary married to Cornelius Newman and Madeline married to Benjamin Hawkins. The Hawkins who live in Virginia, initiated the suit. Mountz Sr owned land in Shenandoah.
