I have seen Amos' with spouses both Sarah Ruddell and Catherine Ruddell - Sarah seems the most likely name given the marriage record below. This family removed to Cape Girardeau, MO.

One transcription of the Peaked Mountain Church Session Book, 1759, Augusta Co, VA, has the following wedding record:
Married 1762: 9br.30 Amos Bird Sarah Bedhill.
This date was likely November 30, 1762. "Bedhill" could easilly have been "Ruddell". Certainly her given name was Sarah - the Ruddell research does not list her as a daughter of John & Mary Cook Ruddell, although several of their children married into the Bird family. She could also have been a daughter of one of their older sons.
