Capt Andrew Bird was Lt of militia in 1742, Capt in 1752. His wife Mary was the widow of Joseph Reece. There was one daughter, Catherine, married (1) to James West and (2) to ___ Zirkle; and four sons: Andrew of Rockingham Co, Revolutionary soldier, William, Abraham, and Isaac.
[Note: The daughter and sons Andrew & Abraham were named in his will.]

17 Nov 1752. Benjamin Borden to Andrew Bird. 174 acres. Brock's Gap on North Shenandoah, the Chimney Rock. Delivered to Abraham Bird, 27 Jan 1754.

2 Feb 1754 Andrew Bird to Moses [Mounce] Bird on Smith's Creek, Andrew Bird's line, Jno. Phillips' line. 350 acres, part of 400 acres, 50 of which were surveyed for Jacob Rambo by deed. Teste: Abraham Bird. Delivered to Jno. Skean, Feb. 1758.

2 Feb 1754 Andrew Bird to Abraham Bird. 174 acres, Brock's Gap on North Shenandoah River, the patent line to the Chimney Rock. [the same tract bought from Benjamin Borden]

30 Oct 1759 Thomas Millsap's will. Wife Mary. Sons Robert, Thomas, Joseph & William. Daughters ELinor, Mary, Jean Macgee, Elizabeth Dillen. Son Joseph to have Robbin's Cabin joining Wm Carrol. Wit: Andrew Bird, John Phillips. Proved by witnesses, 20 May 1760. Executors qualified with Mounce Bird, Wm Magee as security.

16 May 1768 Andrew Bird and wife Mary to Andrew Hulings, 186 acres between Smith's Creek and the mountain; corner John Phillips and Swain Rambo.

Certified copy of the will of Andrew Byrd, dated 27 Feb 1788. Probated 28 Jan 1799 in Rockingham Co VA. Wife Mary. Daughter Catherine Circle [Zirkle], the place where she now lives. Son, Andrew Bird. Granddaughters: Mary, Elizabeth, Catherine & Nancy West. Grandson, William West, the place where his mother lives. Son Abraham.
Deposition of William West and wife Mary. 15 Aug 1805, Greene Co TN. The Negro in question was given to James West in 1773 about one year and a half after James & Caty West were married. Andrew Bird was hurt by a fall from a horse and there was question whether he was of right mind afterwards. Caty was Andrew Bird's daughter and her husband was James West. Administration was granted to Catherine West on the estate of James West, 25 Nov 1782, Rockingham Co.
Deposition of James West of Hawkins Co TN, 15 Aug 1805. Children and heirs of James West were Daniel Bealer and Polly, Caty, and William. Bird had a Negro wench, Sal, for several years before he sold her to the Baptist Society.
