[The connection of Mounce Bird Jr to the Spears family is doubtful. He appears to have married Hannah Pennybacker on 20 Dec 1795 in Shenandoah Co VA. However he could have been nearly 40 by this time, so there could have been an earlier marriage. A will of his brother William Byrd, mentions several married children of Mounce Byrd, deceased, in 1827 - it would seem that some of these children could have been born prior to 1795. More research is needed.]
