1900 U. S. Census gave his birthdate as Dec 1869. One year old in the 1870 census. Eleven years old in 1880 Census.
The book History in Headstones has transcribed his birth as 28 Dec 1864 and it is posted that way on FindAGrave - and there is a picture of his stone and it does have 1864. This census of 1900 and his marriage record to Amanda, both indicate he was born in 1869, not 1864.
There is a marriage record in Crawford Co for George W. Wood, age 26 and Isabel Gokely, age 18, on 8 Jul 1893; married by D. Parham, MG. I do not know if this is the same George Wood - in 1893, this George would have been about age 24.
There is also the marriage of Geo. W. Wood, age 29, to Mrs. Amanda Justice, nee Harp, age 25, on 23 Jul 1898; G. R. Michael, JP.
1900 Census. George, wife Amanda, married 1 year with 1 month old daughter Effa. Troy Wood, nephew, born Mar 1886 is listed living with them.

Found in Crawford Co 1920 Census. Wife is listed as Mandy A. born in Missouri. [Had found a marriage from George H. Wood to Lucinda Dotson so that's probably not this George. a George R. Wood was sherriff of Crawford Co about 1896.] One of the Georges was married 8 Jul 1893 to Isabel Gokeley.
