Louisian Wood
(4 Mar 1860 - 13 May 1860)
The 1860 mortality census schedule shows Louisan Wood died May 1860, Jasper Twp, Crawford Co, AR. She was two months old at death. Her stone is pictured on FindAGrave.
Biography of Joseph Wood gave this child's name as Lavinia. Obviously that was wrong. She is not in the 1870 Census. John is there at age 13 and "M.J." (Martha Jane) is 8 and there is no child in between. I believe this child may have died as an infant or small child and the "History in Headstones" book is in error in giving the dates (1860-1880). Personal observation of this weathered stone revealed that the birth and death years were the same - looked more like 1850 than 1860 but the family wasn't there that early so it must be 1860. The date was in the month of May.
