Francis M. Enloe

Francis Enloe was born 29 July 1836 in Wisconsin and died 22 September 1912 at New Hartford, Butler County, Iowa. He married Sarah Josephine Armstrong on 19 January 1865 at Platteville, Wisconsin. She was born ca. 1848 in Michigan. Enloe served with Company E, 11th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. He enlisted as a private and was enrolled at Madison, Wisconsin, 21 September 1861. He was a farmer at the time of his enlistment, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall with dark hair and eyes. He served as a wagon master during part of this duty. He was discharged for medical reasons at Ironton, Missouri, 22 March 1863. He returned to live at Rewey, Wisconsin, until February 1889 when he moved to New Hartford, Iowa.

Enloe, a veteran of the civil war, died here at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He was a few days past the age of 76 years. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon.
