John F. Enloe

John was a son of Elizabeth Louisa Kirkpatrick and Enoch Enloe. he was born at Mifflin, Iowa County, Wisconsin, 4 November 1838 and died 24 November 1916. He married Eliza (Louisa) Newman 17 December 1863 at Platteville. She was born 17 July 1842 or 1843 in Wisconsin and died 25 May 1909.

John F. Enloe served in Company C, 7th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. He enlisted 19 August 1861 and was discharged 1 September 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia. He had achieved the rank of Sergeant. His enlistment papers say he was 6 feet, 2 inches tall with dark complexion, dark hair and eyes. He was a farmer and hotel keeper after the war. He lived variously at Mifflin in Iowa County, Belmont in Lafayette County, and also in Grant County, all in Wisconsin.

There were five children born of this marriage.

On the 1905 Wisconsin State Census John Enloe appears with his wife Eliza, son Leonard and grandson Clements. They are living at Platteville, Grant Co., Wisconsin. All were born in Wisconsin. Only one occupation noted retired for John.

On the 1910 U. S. Census of Belmont, Lafayette Co., Wisconsin, John Enloe is in the household of his son William T. Enloe.
