Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa, Thursday, December 8, 1949, Page 29, Col. 8: Edward C. Enloe of Cedar Falls Dies at Age of 78. Cedar Falls---Edward C. Enloe, 78, an employee of the city street department and custodian of Island park for a total of more than 30 years, died in a hospital at noon Thursday, shortly after his arrival there. Death was due to a heart ailment and complications. He had retired from the park custodian job on account of his ailing heart some two years ago. Enloe was born Mar. 26, 1871, near Rewey, Wis., and came to Iowa as a boy. He married Cora Ashton at New Hartford Dec. 10, 1890, and they established their home on a farm in that vicinity. They moved to Cedar Falls in 1914, when Mr. Enloe went to work for the city street department using his own team of horses to operate city equipment. After working for the city for a number of years,, he took the post of custodian of Island park under the late Howard Slutz and continued in that work until about two years ago. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, and a son. They include Mrs. James Oster, Route 3, and Glenn Ashton Enloe, 621 College street, both of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Adda Vaughan, Long Beach. He also leaves a brother, Orville Enloe of Cedar Falls. Enloe resided at 603 College street during his 35 years in Cedar Falls. He was a member of the Methodist church of New Hartford. The body is at the Dahl funeral home.
