The Herald, Rock Hill, South Carolina, Sunday, December 9, 2007: Lex Wesley Carter Sr. Rock Hill---Mr. Lex Wesley Carter Sr., 80, of 231 Cummings St., passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. A native of Chester, Mr. Carter was a son of the late David Lee Carter Sr. and the late Mattie Alma Allen Carter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Jabo Construction Company. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his son, John W. Carter; his daughter, Patricia Carter Kirkland; and his son, Lester Dean Carter, all of Rock Hill; his son, Lex W. Carter Jr. of Chester and his son, George "Randy" Carter of Charlotte N.C.; six grand-children; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Yarborough and Minnie Lee, both of Chester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Carter; two brothers, David Lee Carter Jr. and Jimmy Carter; and two sisters, Rose Love and Lunette McCaston. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White St., Rock Hill and other times at the home.
