Chester, Jan. 13---Mrs. Mattie Allen Carter, 34, wife of David Lee Carter, died Friday afternoon at 1230 at their home on the old York road about seven miles from chester of a kidney malady. The funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Calvary Baptist church by the Rev. Edgar W. Davis and the interment will be made in the graveyard at the church. Mrs. Carter was a native of this county, being a daughter of Mrs. Fannie C. Allen and the late John Allen. She was a member of New Hope Methodist church. Surviving are her husband, David Lee Carter and six children, Helen, David Lee Jr, Rose, Minnie, Lex and Lunette Carter. She is also survived by three sisters and three brother as follows: Mrs. Hampton Dudda of Charlotte, N. C., Mrs. Gents Wilkes of Chester, Mrs. John Wilkes of Leeds, Clarence Allen and William Allen of New Hope, Chester county and McCollum Allen of Columbia, and her mother, Mrs. Fannie C. Allen.

Mrs. Mattie Allen carter, 34, died at her home in chester about noon yesterday following a brief illness according to information received in Columbia. Mrs. Carter the wife of David Cars and a brother [sister] of M. C. Allen, a member of the Columbia detective force, was a woman of many fine traits of character and greatly loved by those who knew her. The news of her death brings much grief to her many friends.
