Sumter Minter Sr., died Monday at Chester County Hospital. Born in Chester County, she was a daughter of the late James Blair and Minnie Pendergrass Carter. Mrs. Minter was a graduate of Clifford Seminary with a music major and taught school for a number of years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she was an organist for 50 years. Surviving are two sons, William S. Minter Jr. of Columbia and George Blair Minter of Richmond, Va.; a brother, A. Butler Carter of Union; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Barron Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
