Chester, April 27---(Special)---Mrs. Minnie Selena Pendergrass Carter, 82, widow of James Blair Carter, and last surviving member of the widely know David Pendergrass family, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. Sumter Minter, following an illness of influenza. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from Calvary Baptist church near Chester with interment in the church cemetery by the Rev. Lewis Howard Gordon, and the rev. Guy H. Lawson, of Lowrys Baptist. The funeral cortège will leave the Minter home at 3:15 for Calvary church. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late David Pendergrass by his third marriage to Mrs. Rebecca Kitchens Worthy. Mrs. Carter's husband died twelve years ago. She is survived by the following children: J. Roy of Fort Lawn, Buford of Leeds, David of Chester, John Joe of Leeds and Butler of Anion [Union], Mrs. W. Sumter Minter of Chester and Mrs. Carrie Gregory of Leeds; 32 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She had been a member of the Baptist church for about 74 years and was deeply interested in all phases of the church's activities.
