Also Known As:<_AKA> Query Cause of Death:<CAUS> chronic pulmo nary tuberculosi s DEATH: According to the Owen County Health Departme nt: He was a farmer who d ied from Chronic Pulmonary Tuberculosis, whi ch was brought on by a chest injury involving a cow (his daughter Beu lah confirmed that and relayed a story about how a cow either sat or f ell on his chest). His wife Minnie died of the same i llness in earl y September 1926. The attending physician was Charles Pectol and th e funeral home was Ed West & Son. The death record indicates that h e was bu ried at Garrard Chapel Cemetery with his daughter Lenna Franc is, wife Minnie Ch ristenberry and daughter Beulah. The graves of hi m and his wife were unmarked until July 2002. Obituary: Owen County D emocrat, June 22, 1926: "James Garf ield Querry, son of Solomon and M ary Querry, was born in Owen County, April 12, 1880 and departed thi s life June 4, 1926 at the age of 46 years, 1 month and 2 4 days. H e was united in Marriage to Minnie Christenberry, December 15, 1901 . To this union were born six children, Lenna, who preceded her fathe r in death and five living; Ora 23, Arthur 21, Nina 17, Harlin 11 an d Beulah 10. Mr. Quer ry lived all his life in Owen County. The mos t of his life was spent in sin, t hinking little about God and salvati on until three weeks before his death. Sin ce his last illness the Lo rd had talked to him about where he was going to spen d "Eternity" unt il he said that he was just starved for God and wanted to know that h e was right with his fellowmen and also the Lord. On the 22nd day o f May , after praying and confessing all night, the Lord broke in upo n his soul and s poke peace and washed his sins away, giving him assur ance that he was ready for heaven. He left the testimony behind tha t his only regret was that he did not start earlier that his life mig ht have told for God and proven to the world th ere is power in the Bl ood of Jesus. He said that the last few weeks of his lif e had been t he happiest that he had ever known because of the presence of Jesu s . Besides widow and children he leaves to mourn his absence three b rothers, Wi lliam, Dora, and Charles Querry; four sisters, Mrs. Maggi e Haltom, Mrs. Matt Ra ndles, Mrs. Anna Haltom, Mrs. Dell James an d a host of relatives and friends. Burial was at Garrard Chapel, the R ev. Harold Small, pastor of the Church of th e Nazarene officiating."
