Nathaniel William Query, 73 years old, a resident of Cuba, e ight miles northwest of Spencer, committed suicide Sunday afternoon . He was found about 2:45 by his son-in-law, Roy Bandy of Indianapol is, hanging from a rafter in a wagon shed. He had placed a chain aro und his neck, fastened it over a rafter and leaped from the sideboar d of th e wagon. It was stated that he died from strangulation an d a broken neck. She riff Frank Mitten and James H. Rowland, county c oroner, of Spencer, were called to investigate. Mr. and Mrs. Bandy c ame to visit her parents over the weekend , and Sunday morning they tr ied to persuade Mr. Query to consult a physician ab out his physical c ondition. He would not consent to come to Spencer, so the Ba ndy's ca me to see a doctor for him. The deceased told his wife, Mrs. Meliss a Q uery, he was going to the barn to do a few chores. When young Ban dy returned f rom Spencer he went to the barn and wagon shed, and ther e found the body of his father-in-law. It was believed by those wh o investigated that the act was com mitted about 1:30pm. Mr. Query ha d been ill the past year and it was believed that because of his physi cal condition he decided to end his life...He was a fa rmer by trade . He was born July 7, 1869, a son of Solomon and Mary (Dobson) Qu ery . He was a farmer by trade. Survivors include the widow, and none ch ildren - Mrs. Ethel Cook, of Jordan Village; Mrs. Letha Schopmeyer o f Poland; Roy A., of Indianapolis; Clyde, Spencer rte; Mrs. Nellie Ph illips, of Indianapolis; Mr s. Bessie Weddle, of Clayton; Harold of Ot terbein; Mrs. Mabel Bandy, of Indiana polis; and Mrs. Ruby Grace, of F ort Wayne. Also 24 grandchildren, two great-gr andchildren, and the f ollowing brother and sisters - Charles Query pf Straughn, Indiana; Do ra Miles Query of Poland; Mrs. Ann Haltom, Spencer; Mrs. Della Jame s , Terre Haute; and Mrs. Martha Randall, of Vandalia. Funeral service s were he ld yesterday (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the Cuba Church, i n charge of Rev. Ha rold Cornwell, and burial was made in the Cloverda le Cemetery.
