Nickname:<NICK> Delores Also Known As:<_AKA> Query Cause of De ath:<CAUS> resp iratory failure and a brain stem stroke BIOGRAPHY : After the death of her pare nts, Beulah and brother Jack stayed fo r a while with their Grandparents, the Ch ristenberry's. Jack ran awa y because Grandfather William H was said to be as " mean as a snake." . After a year or so, Beulah moved on to stay with other rela tives a nd family friends. As an adult, Beulah told a story that when she wa s 1 3 years old, she fell backwards off a swing and hit her head. Sh e mentioned th at she was unconscious for two or three days. This acci dent may have lead to h er mental illness in later life. She graduate d from Stinesville High School, M onroe County, Indiana in 1928 or 192 9. During the 1930s she cared for her olde r sister Nina who died i n 1932 or 1933 in Bloomington, Indiana. Sometime in th e late 1930s , she met and lived with Virgil Colbath, father of Beulah's first c hi ld, Patricia Kay. After the birth of Pat, and the breakup of the comm on law marriage with Virgil Colbath, Beulah was forced to give up th e care of Pat to V irgil's mother. It is believed that Virgil's mom pl ayed a large role in the bre akup. In a letter to Beulah, Virgil aske d to get back together with her. That letter, never mailed, was disc overed later in Virgil's mother's belongings aft er her death. Appare ntly, Virgil's mother never mailed the letter, but kept it all thos e years. During World War II, Beulah was a defense worker in Califor n ia. She led a troubled adult life. She suffered from mental illnes s all of he r adulthood and became disabled in her fifties. Son-in-la w Mike Rastatter, rem embers her as a very loving person, always willi ng to lend a helping hand. The last 14 years of life were her happie st at a nursing home in Huntsburg, Ohio. She was always helping out wh erever possible, and enjoyed her freedom to smoke cigarettes until he r death at 81 years. BURIAL: Upon her death, her body wa s given th e Case Western Reserve Medical School. Her remains were cremated on N ovember 26, 1999. On July 13, 2002, Beulah's ashes were laid to res t at Garra rd Chapel Cemetery, Owen County, Indiana with her parents a nd sister Lenna. A headstone purchased in 2002 now marks the spot o f the three graves.
