Another drowning tragedy occurred last Thursday evening when Peter J. Zirden, buttermaker at the Millerville Co-operative Creamery was drowned in Lake Aaron. When he was seen by the Haiden boys, he was pulling up the anchor of the boat. A few minutes later the boys heard his cries for help and they saw that his boat had capsized. The boys hurried to the spot and when they arrived there, saw Zirden going down for the third time. The boys thew him an anchor rope in the attempt to rescue him, but by that time he was unable to grasp the rope and he disappreard from sight.
It is believed that Zirden's boat capsized when he was pulling up the anchor. Coroner McCabe and Sheriff Bennie Urness were notified immediately of the tragedy and Urness recovered the body at about 10 o'clock Thursday evening.
