In his will written 28 November 1747, Benjamin Barker bequeathed to his grandson Joseph Barker, son of his son Joseph deceased, the piece of land where his deceased son Joseph had his house and barn, a tract of meadow, and a property in Methuen. Grandson Jonathan Barker receives the land that Benjamin purchased of Stephen Emerson lying in Methuen and the land that he has at the pond in Methuen called Mistick pond. Neither Joseph nor Jonathan are to dispose of these properties, but are to leave them to their heirs. Grandson Jonathan receives one-half of the sawmill. Jonathan is to make payment of ten pound to the children of his deceased daughter Hannah Carlton, those children to equally divide the amount, and they receive no more as their mother received her portion. The household goods are to be divided among his four daughters Martha, Abigail, Phebe, and Joanna, and the daughter of deceased daughter Hannah. Son Benjamin receives the homestead property and one-half rights to the sawmill. His four daughters received one-half of the stock animals to divide and son Benjamin receives the other half. Son Benjamin is to make payments of ten pounds to each of his four daughters Martha, Abigail, Phebe, and Joanna and is to pay five shillings to Alice Barker daughter of son Jonathan. Son Benjamin Barker was named executor. The will was proved and approved on 22 October 1750. The estate was inventoried at £854.12.5, £100.3.7 of that amount being notes owed to the estate. The real estate to grandson Jospeh Barker was valued at £284.10, the value of property to grandson Jonathan Barker was £220, and the property to son Benjamin Barker was £218.4.6.1
