Richard Barker

Richard Barker has the distinction of being the subject of the first official record made in Andover when there was a record of transfer of a farm from William Howes of Topsfield to Richard Barker of Andover in 1643. He continued to accumulate large tracts of land over a number of years. He was a selectman in Andover until his death. Richard and Joanna Barker had nine children.

Death

In his will, he lists six sons and two daughters (Sarah and Hester), and three granddaughters who are the children of his deceased daughter Hannah. He helps out genealogists everywhere by specifying the birth order of his sons (John, William, Ebenezer, Richard, Stephen, and Benjamin).
