On 20 December 1734, Jonathan Barker, yeoman, was of Methuen when he purchased a parcel of land in Methuen from Abiel Merrill for £100 in bills of credit.1Purchase in Methuen in Dec 1734 -- 68:167

Probate
Jonathan Barker did not leave a will and his estate was administered by his widow Mary. Although the probate packet is dated 13 July 1741, the packet contains receipts for payment made by widow Mary Barker beginning in April 1737. An estate inventory was made 7 July 1741. Estate value was £212.5. Debts were £188.5.8. Accounting was made by Mary Barker alias Swan on 24 August 1741 and 17 September 1750. On 14 November 1757, Jonathan Barker signed that he received from Timothy Swan and Mary Swan, joint administrators of the estate of his father Jonathan, £7.2.5 for his portion of the estate.1Delayed probate – 1741
