Mae R. Larson, 84, of Star Prairie died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at the St. Croix Health Center.
She was born the third child of twelve to Sam and Tilda (Walby) Thompson on Dec. 20, 1924, in Town of Alden, Wis. She was baptized, confirmed and remained a lifelong member of West Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mae married Dale Larson on Dec. 20, 1946. The couple farmed for four years until moving to Star Prairie in 1953. Mae worked at DoBoy Plastics in New Richmond, Maple Island in Stillwater, United Refrigerator in Hudson and finally Federal Cartridge in New Brighton.
She enjoyed bowling, dancing and camping at Big Sand Lake east of Siren, Wis. Other hobbies included sewing rags for rugs, baking cookies and canning vegetables. She was known for her pickled beets.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Tilda; stepfather, Dale Foss; siblings, Fern Wells, Dale, Gene, Lyle, Norris, Darrel and Dean Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dale Larson; son, DeLoy (Shelly) Larson; grandsons, Jason Larson, Jeremy (Caroline) Larson; great-grandchildren, Eric Larson, Ashley Larson, Kimberly Kellogg; great-great-granddaughter, Kailyn Larson; sisters, Betty (Paul) Singerhouse, June Field, Suzanne (Gary) Peterson; brother, Wayne (Idell) Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at West Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Osceola. Visitation was also Monday from 12-2 p.m. before the service at the church. The interment was in the West Immanuel Church Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
