Wayne A. Thompson, age 72, of Star Prairie, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at his home.
He was born the son of Sam and Tilda (Walby) Thompson on Feb. 27, 1938, in the Town of Alden. On May 25, 1957, Wayne married Idell Weeks at the Bethany Lutheran Church parsonage. He worked at Whirlpool for 26 years.
Wayne was a member and past Master of the North Star Masonic Lodge #187. He was raised to a degree of Master Mason on Nov. 1, 1979, and was a member of the Amery Chapter #112 Royal Arch Masons. Wayne was a Packer fan, avid Euchre player and enjoyed deer hunting. He loved his grandkids and taking care of the Star Prairie Ball Park. Wayne was seen driving his golf cart down to the ball park many days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Tilda Thompson; step-father, Dale Foss; sisters Fern Wells, Mae Larson, June Field; brothers, Dale, Gene, Lyle, Norris, Darrel and Dean Thompson.
Wayne will be missed by his wife, Idell; children, Debbie (Barry) Smith, Sam (Diane), Colleen (Jeff) Bottolfson, Rod (Teri), Ryan (McGee); 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Betty (Paul) Singerhouse and Suzanne (Gary) Peterson.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Star Prairie. Visitation was also Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before the service at church. The interment was in West Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Bakken-Young’s Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
