Jane (Jenson) Rasmussen, 82, of Hudson died Saturday, Jan. 20, at New Richmond Meadows care center.
She was born on a snowy day March 1, 1924, to Nels and Gurina Jenson, the first of triplets and was delivered at home by Mrs. Michaelson, a midwife, and named by Dr. J.W. Livingston.
She attended first through eighth grade at North Hudson School and graduated from Hudson High School in 1942.
She served in the Air Corps, trained as a medic, was honorably discharged and enrolled in a program known as “Articulation of Military and Civilian Education for Nursing,” a special program for men and woman with previous medical training through Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio, at Huron Road Hospital. Jane was the first to graduate under this new accelerated program in 1959.
Married to Walter Rasmussen, June 9, 1962, the couple lived on a farm near Trego, Wis. Jane worked as a nurse at the Spooner Memorial Hospital. In the early 1970s the couple moved to Rice Lake, Wis., and Jane worked at the Rice Lake Hospital. She completed her nursing career by the late 1970s working at the St. Croix Health Care Center and finally at Maple Manor Nursing Home, both in New Richmond, WI.
Jane enjoyed taking pictures and creating albums for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Mostly she enjoyed visiting and corresponding with friends and family.
She will be greatly missed by Jane (Lund) Vega, of Hudson, Tom and Terry Kinney of Hammond. Her husband, Walter Rasmussen, died Sept. 16, 1986.
