Katherine F. Casanova Baumgartner, 90, of Rosemount, Minnesota and a former Hudson resident, died Wednesday, February 13 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
She was born in Hudson January 19, 1912, the daughter of Joseph A. and Catherine Karras Casanova.
She attended local schools, graduating in 1929 from Hudson High School and then attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota where she received her degree in 1933. She also attended the University of Minnesota.
On July 22, 1940, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson, she was married to Lambert G. Baumgartner.
She worked from 1940 to 1958 as an administrative assistant to her husband, who was superintendent of schools of Rosemount District 196.
After the death of her husband in 1958, she taught in the Rosemount District from 1959 until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and St. Joseh's Catholic Church in Rosemount, where she was a member of the the parish council for seven years and sang in the church choir for 40 years. She was also a lobbyist for the Minnesota Teachers Union for many years.
Survivors are two children, Mary Ann Baumgartner of Paris, France, and Jerome (Susan) Baumgartner of Apple Valley; two grandchildren, Tracy and Krista Baumgartner; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy A. Casanova of WinterGreen apartments in Hudson.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, February 16, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rosemount.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband were three brothers, Dr. John A. Casanova (1985), Leonard J. Casanova (1984) and Raymond B. Casanova (1988), and two sisters, Agnes ryan (1968) and Christine L. Delmonico (1977).
