Death

Mr. Elwood H. Furr Sr., 79, of Detour, died Sunday, Dec. 13, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mable L. Furr. Born on Feb 3, 1908, in Virginia, he was a son of the late Harry and Rachel Leach Furr. He was a retired employee of the Montgomery County Roads Department Surviving besides his wife are seven children, Elwood H. Furr Jr., Rachel E. Harne and Gary V. Furr, all of Mount Airy, Robert E. Furr of Georgia, Paul C. Furr of Cambridge, Phillip O. Furr of Keymar, W. Walter Furr of Clarksburg; one sister, Agnes Manuel of South Carolina; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home in Damascus. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home. The Rev. Carol Yocum, Calvary United Methodist Church of Mount Airy, will officiate. Internment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Furr's name to the American Heart Association of Frederick County, 116 E. Patrick St.,

Funeral services for Mr. Elwood H. Furr Sr. of Detour, who died Sunday, Dec. 13, were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home in Damascus. The Rev. Carol Yocum, Calvary United Methodist Church, Mount Airy, officiated. A eulogy was given by his grandson George E. Harne Jr. Two selections "God Will Take Care of You" and the "Lord's Prayer," were sang by Mrs. Peggy Etzler Rodrigues, accompanied by Mrs. Jane Wagner. Bearers were grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Harne, George E. Harne Jr., Steven B. Harae, E. Harold Furr III, Carl C. Furr and Robert C. Furr Jr. Interment was in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Mr. Furr was the husband of Mable L. Furr.
