CEDARTOWN MAN KILLED AFTER BEING APPARENTLY ATTACKED BY A BULL. A Cedartown man has died as a result of being attacked by a bull according to preliminary reports from Polk County Police and the Polk County Coroner’s Office. Rev. Robert Furr, 63, of 3166 Parker Roberts Road, had gone to his son’s home on Culps Lake Road to feed his cattle and the bull became irate and charged Rev. Furr apparently killing him. Assistant Coroner Tony Brazier told WGAA Radio news that the bull was destroyed and Rev. Furr’s body was sent to the crime lab in accordance with state law. Rev. Furr had recently retired from GEO Specialties and was involved in a jail ministry and a member of Gideon’s International.The Rev. Robert E. Furr Sr., 64, of 3166 Parker Roberts Road, Cedartown, Ga., died Wednesday, July 31. He was the husband of Dorothy Gallimore Furr. Born July 19, 1938, in Heightsville, he was the son of Mabel Frank Furr of Maryland, and the late Harold Elwood Furr Sr. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, and served as a deacon for 35 years. He was a Baptist minister for two years. He was a former Gideon, and an active member of Polk County Jail Ministry. He also was a founding member of Esom Hill Unit of the Polk County Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one son, Robert Furr Jr. of Cedartown; two daughters, Julie F. Ingle of Arragon, Ga., and Cathy Robertson of Summit, N.J.; five brothers, Harold E. Furr Jr., Paul C. Furr, Phillip O. Furr, Walter Furr and Gary Furr, all of the Frederick County area; one sister, Rachel E. Harne of Maryland; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 4, at Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home, Cedartown, with the Rev. Royce Campbell, Dr. Charles Evans and Col. Jim Glaze officiating. Interment was in Northview Cemetery in Georgia. Bearers included members of Brown-Wright American Legion Post 12. Honorary bearers were the deacons of Harmony Baptist Church.
