Death
Raymond Eugene Furr, 77, of Cridersville, died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at his residence. He was born Jan. 7, 1927, in McGuffey, a son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Hoover) Furr. On Aug. 7, 1950, he married Virginia Plaugher, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Robert "Rob" (Marlene) Furr and Don (Sabrina) Furr, both of Cridersville, Dan Furr and Rick Furr, both of Lima; one daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Pitts of Lima; two brothers, Walter (Sylvia) Furr of Kenton and Jack (Carol) Furr of Lima; one sister, Ada Chiles of Lima; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Marcus Furr, and six brothers, Sherman, James, Roy, Charles, Franklin and Homer Furr. Mr. Furr worked in construction for several area companies, including Campnell, Keiffer Construction, Norm Stewart & Sons, and he was the owner of A1 Plastering Company. Mr. Furr was a member of the Eagles Aerie 370 in Lima. He enjoyed 54 years of marriage to Virginia. He enjoyed all of his grandchildren. He loved baseball, boxing, fishing, gardening, mowing, playing cards, and he loved his dog, "Chip." Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, with the Rev. Daniel H. Messner officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery in Alger. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.The Wapakoneta Daily News, August 20, 2004
