Death
John H. Furr, died Saturday afternoon at his home at Hamburg, four miles west of Mt. Jackson, after an illness of several months. Mr. Furr was a prominent farmer and lumberman, and was about 52 years old. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and of the Mount Jackson lodge of Masons, and was a highly respected citizen. Surviving Mr. Furr are his wife and eight children, R. M. Furr, Mrs. C. C- Bowman, Mrs P. P. Fultz, all of Mount Jackson, H. L. and C. L. Furr and Mrs.. W. D. Robinson, of Harrisonburg; W. B. Furr, of Washington, D. C.; and Mrs. L. W. Fadeley, of Birmingham, Alabama. He also is survived by one brother, Stuart Furr, of Strasburg, and three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Desmond, of Huntington, W. Va.; Mrs. Fannie True, of Florida; and Mrs. Buford, of Lynchburg. Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock p. m, Monday from the Salem Lutheran Church at Hamburg. Interment was in the cemetery at the church, the Masons conducting the services at the grave.Endnotes
