Pappas Personal History, January 1999, in possession of Carol Kostakos Petranek states: "Peter worked as a waiter in both Pappas Restaurants at 135 - 3rd Avenue, owned by my father and his partner, James N. Pappas, and Pappas Restaurant at 8th Avenue and 14th Street, owned by my mother's brothers, Paul, Sam and James Morfogen....Emphysema, caused by smoking cut short his life span."
