From Ancestors of Cheryl Lavonne Nau WFT 40 Tree 920:

Peter Deardorff was born on April 18, 1742, in New Jersey. He moved to Pennsylvania where he married Christina Swyer. They settled on Conewago Creek near York, Pennsylvania, where their thirteen children were born. Peter and his family were neighbors of Durst Ammen and his family when they were living in Pennsylvania. Both families moved to Virginia, Peter settling near Peaks of Otter in Bedford County about 1790.
In 1745, a father and mother by the name of Swyer with a large family were crossing the ocean when the mother died and was buried at sea. The children became scattered and some were hired out to pay the father's debts. One of these children was Christina Swyer.
Peter died on October 20, 1816, near Fincastle and is buried in the Old Dutch Cemetery. After the death of her husband, Peter, Christina Swyer Deardorff made her home with her son, John, who had married Catherine Harshbarger. After John and Catherine moved to Ohio in 1817, Christina lived with her daughter, Catherine Deardorff Ammen. Christina Swyer Deardorff died in 1824 on the Ammen Estate, on the Harshbarger Plantation. She is buried in the Harshbarger Cemetery on the plantation.
Peter's will was written on September 2, 1816, proven on October 28, 1816, from Will Book 4, Page 277, Bedford County, Virginia.
Peter sold land in Paradise Township, York County, Pennsylvania, to Abraham Mylie on October 29, 1790, from Deed 2 G--page 37.
Allotment and division of Peter's estate on April 5, 1821 and recorded May 30, 1821. Estate was divided among his 12 living children.
Mitchell Ewing and John Deardorff were executors of Peter's estate. They sold property to William R. Jones for $5275.00---400 acres on Otter River and McBride's Creek. This is the same piece of property that Peter bought in 1795 from Finis Ewing----Deed Book 10, Page 24.
