Death

ROCK HILL - Louise Furr Covington, 80, of 1718 Pope Street, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Covington was born Nov. 4, 1931, a daughter of the late Dan and Ada Reid Griffen Furr. She was retired from Celanese after 40 years of service and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delano Boyce Covington Sr. Surviving are her son, Delano Boyce Covington Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Charlotte; one sister, Julia Furr of Fort Mill; sister-in-law, Jeanette Covington of Rock Hill; and a granddaughter, Amber Covington. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Covington will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731. Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Boulevard, Rock Hill, S.C., is serving the family.
