Death
JOANNA — William Thomas “Uncle Tom” Furr, 84, of 402 Morehead St., died Wednesday at Clinton. Born in Stanly County, N.C., son of the late Henry Clinton and Abigail Hudson Furr, he was a veteran of World War I and a member of First Baptist Church of Joanna. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Essie Smith of Newberry; and a brother, P. C. Furr of Clinton. Funeral services will be Friday at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Joanna, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery. The body is at the home of his niece, Mrs. Sabry S. Boyd, 412 Morehead St., and will be placed in the church at 4 p.m. Friday, Gray Funeral Home, Clinton.The Greenville News, Greenville, South Carolina, June 22, 1973
