Death
GOLDVILLE, Aug. 21. — (Special) — Mrs. Gillie Furr, 61, wife of the late Henry C. Furr, died Monday morning at her home here after a lingering illness. Mrs. Furr was born in Stanly county, N. C., the daughter of Elijah Hudson. She had lived in Laurens county for 22 years, the last 17 in Goldville. The following children survive; James L, William and Pearly C. Furr, and Mrs. Essie Smith, of Newberry; Mrs. Sallie Finney, Mrs. Adell Moore and Mrs. Bessie Smith, of Goldville. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Jim and Josh Hudson, of Norwood, N. C., Mrs. Winnie Lisenby, of Concord, N. C., and Mrs. Pat Smith, of Albermarle, N. C. Mrs. Furr was a devoted member of the Baptist church and was an active Christian worker and was loved and admired by a wide circle of friends. She was buried beside her husband in the Lydia Baptist church cemetery, the services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. Vaughn.The Greenville News, Greenville, South Carolina, August 22, 1927
