Notes
Death
On February 24 the many friends and relatives of Mrs. W. G. Hatley were saddened when the news spread that Mrs. Hatley had died at 8:45 o'clock at the Tally-Brunson hospital after a week's illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Hatley before her marriage 16 years ago was Miss Magnolia Furr, a daughter of Mrs. Nancy Furr. She was 35 years of age and had spent her entire life in this county. Besides her husband she is survived by five small children. They are Ruth, Jewel, Helen, Ardis and Gerald. Also her mother, Mrs. Nancy Furr and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. W. H. Whitley, Mrs. C. L. Staton, Mrs. Lee Whitley, Misses Alie Ann, Flora, Etha, Reather and Walton Furr. The funeral was conducted by Elders B. L. Treece and S. H. Williams at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist church on Saturday. A large crowd of friends and relatives gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to a departed loved one. The floral offering was very beautiful. The flowergirls were Misses Ora Almond, Zora Bowers, Esther Burleyson, Ola Mae Whitley, Flora Bowers and Doris Hatley. Brothers-in-law acted as pallbearers. They were Messrs, W. H. Whitley, Vance Hatley, C. L. Staton, J. H. Hatley, J. J. Whitley and Lee Whitley. The Albemarle Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, March 1, 1928Endnotes
