Death
ALBEMARLE, Jan. 21 — Mrs. U. S. Burleson, 81, died at her home here this morning after a lengthy illness. The former Rosa Lillian Furr, she was a native of Stanly County and a member of Canton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Canton Baptist Church by the Revs. O. H. Bolch and Hoyle T. Allred. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Lester Smith, Mrs. Roxie Lowder, Mrs. Glenn Efird and Mrs. Arch Cree of Albemarle; four sons, Raymond of Albemarle, Theadore of Mount Pleasant, Macon of Charlotte and U.S. Jr. of Stanfield; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean Furr of Mesa, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mrs. Jane Herrin of Albemarle and Mrs. Maggie Tucker of Oakboro.News and Record, Greensboro, North Carolina, January 22, 1958
