Death
Mrs. Joseph Morton, well-known Stanly county woman, died at her home near the Canton Baptist church Monday after an illness of six months. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Furr and was 70 years old at the time of her death. She was a faithful member of the Bear Creek church. She is survived by her husband and the following children: John, James, Mrs. Benjamin Whitley, Mrs. Autis Burris, Mrs. James Burris, Mrs. Vance Hatley, Mrs. D. J. Efird and Mrs. Riston Poplin. Also surviving are two brothers, Deane Furr, of Arizona, and James Furr, of Stanly county, and three sisters, Mrs. Luther Herrin, Mrs. U. S. Burleson and Mrs. Roe Tucker, all of this county. Funeral services were held, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bear Creek church with Rev. Mr. Mills and Harvey Almond in charge.
