ALBEMARLE -- Betty Elvene Furr Peck, 88, died August 27, 2009. Funeral 2pm Monday, First Lutheran Church; burial, Fairview Memorial Park. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is assisting the family.Published in Charlotte Observer on August 29, 2009
ALBEMARLE - Betty Elvene Furr Peck, 88, died Aug. 27, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 19, 1921, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo Shuford Furr and Bertha Novella Hathcock Furr. A bookkeeper, she participated in activities at the Senior Center and was in Women's Auxiliary at Stanly Regional Medical Center. A member of First Lutheran Church, Mrs. Peck enjoyed taking arts and crafts classes and loved to garden and shop. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Eugene Peck, Sr. Survivors include son James Peck and wife Terry Peck of Albemarle; daughters Pamela Peck of Rockwell and Kathy Peck and husband Jeffrey T. Barach, Sr., of Oakton, Va.; grandson Jeffrey T. Barach, Jr., of Odenton, Md.; granddaughters Shelly Peck Mills, Brandy Peck and Jacqui Peck, all of Albemarle, and Amber Lucille Peck of Rockwell; and great-grandchildren Trevor, Jacob and Bailey Speights. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The family meeting place will be at 511 E. Cannon Ave., Albemarle, NC 28001. Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31 at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Futterer officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle. Memorials: First Lutheran Church, 230 S. Second St., Albemarle, NC 28001
