Notes
Death
Ray Wilson Furr 1926 - 2008 Mr. Furr, 81, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at home after an extended illness. Ray was born in Pineville, NC, son of Albert and Ada Dry Furr, being one of twelve children. He retired from Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System - Grounds Department and was a member of Ebenezer Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Mel Schell Sunday School Class. He was a gentle man, and he served his Lord and his church well for 60 years, serving as both Deacon and Elder. Ray was a quiet man but a very talented man. He loved his Lord and his family and he loved to rabbit hunt and coon hunt. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will surely be missed. Survivors are his beloved wife of 61 years, Peggy McAllister Furr; one son, Russell 'Rusty' Ray Furr; three grandchildren, William Furr and wife Kelia, Jamie Furr Hernandez and husband Tony and Brandy Furr, all of Charlotte, NC; and one surviving sister, Laura Furr Merritt of Charlotte, NC. Ray was adopted into the family early on by Granny and Paw Paw McAllister and all of Peggy's brothers and sister; many of whom lived with him and Peggy off and on over the years. The family will receive friends Friday, November 21, 2008 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery.
