Death
Funeral services for George M. Furr, 40, former Charlottean, were held yesterday afternoon at the Douglas and Sing chapel, conducted by Rev. H. R. Abernathy. Burial was in Steel Creek Presbyterian church cemetery. Mr. Furr, a native of Charlotte, died Friday in Petersburg. Va. He moved there from Charlotte 16 years ago. Surviving Mr. Furr are his wife, Mrs. Rose Furr of Petersburg; six daughters, Roseitta, Delores, Bobbie, Marian, Mary Ann, and Dorothy Furr, all of Petersburg; two sons, John and Jimmy Furr, both of Petersburg; his mother, Mrs. H. R. Furr of Charlotte; five brothers L. R. Furr, R. A. Furr, L. A. Furr, and J. R. Furr, all of Mecklenburg county, and A. J. Furr of the United States army, stationed in Panama City: and a sister, Mrs. J. E. Thompson, Charlotte.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, September 1, 1942
