Death
Tech. Sgt Arthur J. Furr, Air force mechanic of Charlotte, was killed by a locomotive at Barrackpore, India, according to a telegram received by his sister, Etta Thompson of 2519 Lucena street, Tuesday night. The message was from Adj. Gen. J. A. Ulio, and said the report received by the War department said Sergeant Furr was killed August 28 and that a letter would follow. No other details were given in the message. Born in Charlotte September 25, 1915, Sergeant Furr was the son of, the late Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Furr. He entered service two years ago, was trained at Tyndall Field Fla., Montgomery, Ala., and other camps in this country before being sent overseas 14 months ago. He has four brothers, all of Charlotte, L. R. Furr, Roy A Furr, Lester Furr, and John H. Furr.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, September 7, 1944
