Death
Ralph Herman Furr, 71, of 348 Vine St., Sunbury, was found dead at his residence this morning by his wife, having apparently died during the night. He had been in failing health for the last two years. He was a former employee of the street department of the city of Sunbury, for 10 years, having retired in 1961. A resident of Sunbury since 1922, he was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Sunbury Club. Mr. Furr was born in Indian Trail, N. C., Nov. 30, 1898, a son of the late Henry and Laura Furr. He was married for 46 years to the former Margaret Whiteman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ralph E. and Ronald M., Sunbury, and Thomas E., Washington, D. C.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Sloan; a sister, Mrs. Selma Sams, both of Atlanta, Ga., and two sisters, Jessie and Julia, both of Charlotte, N. C. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Dornsife and Zweier funeral home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury. Rev. William A. Speers, pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church, will officiate, and burial will be made in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
