Death

Bettie Furr Thrower, 82, of Ooltewah, died on Friday, December 28, 2007, at her home. She was a member of the North River Alliance Church and the Alliance Women. She was born in Columbia, S.C., to Alonzo and Jennie Furr. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Thrower; children, James (Sue) Thrower, Jr., of Alvin, Tx., Charles (Barbara) Thrower, of Memphis, and Anita (Wayne) Gill, of Griffin, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alonzo Furr; and sister, Sarah Bell Wallace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North River Alliance Church. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Duane Mabee officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Garden, Hixson, Tn. Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
