Death
Services are today for Alonzo Watkins Furr, 64, of Santa Rosa, who died Saturday at a local hospital after a long illness. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Furr was a veteran of World War II who came to California in 1953. He moved to Santa Rosa from Weaverville in 1958. He was an operating engineer and was a former member of Operating Engineers Local No. 3 of Northern California. Surviving are his wife, Natalie Furr, Santa Rosa; sons, Richard Furr, Sebastopol, and Lawrence Furr, Windsor; sisters, Loma Simmons, Sarah Belle Wallace and Pauline White, all of North Carolina, and Betty Thrower of Texas, and five grandchildren. Services at 1 p.m. at Eggen and Lance Mortuary will be conducted by the Rev. William Newman of Village Baptist Church of San Lorenzo. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Alonzo Watkins Furr, 64, of Santa Rosa, Calif., formerly of Charlotte, died Saturday. Funeral is 4 p.m. Friday at Evergreen City Cemetery. Survivors are wife, Natalie of Santa Rosa; sons, Richard Furr, Lawrence Furr, both of Santa Rosa; father, Alonzo Furr of Fort McCoy, Fla.; sisters, Mrs. Betty Thrower of Arlington, Tex., Mrs. Pauline White of Denver, N.C., Mrs. Loma Simpson, Mrs. Sarah Wallace. McEwen is in charge.
