Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie W. Furr of 1321 Pinecrest Ave. who died yesterday at 10 P. M. at her home will be held tomorrow at 2 P. M. at St. John's Methodist Church at Oakhurst. The Rev. Mr. Perkins, the pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Mrs. Furr was born Jan. 26, 1893 in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of the late Frances Price Watkins and J. S. Watkins of Mecklenburg County. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church and a former member of Sharon Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son, Alonzo W. Furr of Charlotte; four daughters, Mrs. R. N. Simmons, Mrs. J. E. Thrower and Mrs. Earl C. White Jr., all of Charlotte and Mrs. W. E. Wallace of Matthews: four sisters, Mrs. W. L. McCall of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Fred Baker of Hobbs, N. M., Mrs. Tinnie Freeland and Mrs. T. P. Hargett, both of Charlotte; four brothers. J. M. Watkins of Monroe, J. C. Watkins of Tampa, Fla., L. B. Watkins of West Virginia and D. F. Watkins of Winston-Salem and eight grandchildren. The body will remain at the McEwen Funeral Home until 1:30 P. M. tomorrow when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of the funeral service.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, July 23, 1951
