Death

James Edward Thrower Sr., of Ooltewah, Tn., died on Thursday, February 26, 2009. He was born in 1924 in Pineville, N.C., to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Lola Thrower. While living in Charlotte, N.C., he married his wife of 66 years, Bettie F. Thrower, who along with his sister, Lois Martin, preceded him in death. He had a passion for doing volunteer work at Chickamauga State Park and after 46 years of loyal service he retired from McKesson Drug Company. He was a faithful and much adored member of North River Alliance Church. Mr. Thrower is survived by his brother, Ralph C. Thrower, Jr., and his three children; James (Sue) E. Thrower, Jr., Charles (Barbara) Lynn Thrower, and Anita (Wayne) Gill. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the North River Alliance Church with the Rev. Duane Mabee officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
