Marriage
Miss Nancy Bost and Mr. Ralph Furr were married last Wednesday evening, June 18th. at 3 o'clock. The ceremony was performed at the Kerr Street Methodist parsonage by Rev. C. R. Allison and was witnessed by only a few close friends. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Furr went to Salisbury, where they spent several days with Mrs. Charles Culp; a sister of Mr. Furr. The bride is an attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bost, while the groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Furr and have hosts of friends in our village, who wish them much prosperity and happiness. Mr. and Mrs. Furr are making their home at the present with the latter's parents on Railroad avenue.The Concord Daily Tribune, Concord, North Carolina, June 24, 1924
Death
Ralph Emerson Furr, 58, of Derita, passed away Tuesday night following an illness of several months. He was born Dec. 5, 1902, in Cabarras (sic) County, a son of the late J. M. and Dolly Winecoff Furr. He was a retired mail carrier and a member of Cole Memorial Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nancy Lee Furr of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Robert M. McDuffy and Mrs. Fred Hunter of Charlotte, Mrs. James Hunicutt and Mrs. Thomas B. Love of Monroe; two sons, William Franklin Furr of Charlotte and Ralph Edward Furr of Clearwater, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Richard Allen, Mrs. Joe Stewart and Mrs. Hurley Thompson of Concord, and Mrs. Robert Culp of Salisbury; three brothers, Claude and Glenn of Concord, and Bryan of Landis; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock today from the Cole Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger W. Tucker, the pastor, officiating. Interment in Sharon Memorial Park. Active pallbearers are T. W. McFarland, J. M. Sweet, Joel Crabtree, J. F. Fincher, John T. Mitzel and Robert L. Stinson. Honorary pallbearers are men of the Postal Service. The body will remain at the McEwen Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, March 23, 1961
