Marriage
Silas (Neeley) Furr celebrated his 76th birthday January 28. Mr. Furr and his wife Bessie have lived in Sequoyah County for nearly 40 years. They have eight children. Only two live in this area, Paul of Muldrow and a daughter who lives in the Akins Community. Death
Services for Silas Cornelius Furr, 85, of Muldrow were held Monday, Feb, 9, at 2 p.m. in the Agent Chapel. in Muldrow with the Rev. Jimmy Pursell and the Rev. Carl Chesher officiating. Burial was in them Memory Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow under direction of the Agent Funeral Home. Mr. Furr died Thursday, Jan. 5, in Fort Smith, Ark, at the age of 85. He was born Jan. 28, 1898, in Arkansas to L.C. Furr and Maggie Eugina Hearn Furr. A member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Mr. Furr was a retired factory worker and farmer. He and his wife, the former Bessie Ann Cantrell, were married Sept. 15, 1923, in Sallisaw. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Imogene Renfro of Sallisaw, Anna Louise Stegman of Dallas, Texas, Wilma Baker of El Paso, Texas, and Mildred Wood of Victoria, Texas; four sons, James Carl Furr of Norwalk, Calif., Paul Furr of Lexington, Tenn., Cedar Furr of Claremore and J. D. Furr of Diamond Bar, Calif.; 35 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Eugene Renfro, Frankie Bones, Jeff Furr, Robert Baker, Kelly Furr and Sterling Wood.
