Death
Funeral services for Bessie Anna Furr, 89, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Agent Chapel in Muldrow with the Rev. Henry Wood and the Rev. Robert Baker Jr. officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. Furr was born April 10, 1906, in Vian, Indian Territory, to James Gus Cantrell and Flora Rogers Cantrell. She died Saturday, Oct. 28, 1995, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and worked at Ward’s Furniture Factory in Fort Smith. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Muldrow. She married Silas Cornelius Furr on Sept. 15, 1923, in Sequoyah County. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1984. Survivors include four daughters, Imogene Renfro of Sallisaw, Mildred Wood of Victoria, Texas, Wilma Baker of Joplin, Mo., and Anna Louise Stegman of Dallas, Texas; four sons, James Carl Furr of Norwalk, Calif., Paul Furr of Hendersonville, Tenn., Cedar Furr of Gallatin, Tenn., and J.D. Furr of Diamond Bar, Calif.; and 33 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons, Eugene Renfro, Bennie Stegman, Jeffrey and Kelly Furr, Robert Baker, III, and Sterling Wood.
