Death
Norman Ira Furr, 61, of 434 Peterson Dr. died today at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. He was a supervisor for 34 years with Lance Inc. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Harry and Bryant Chapel in the Oaks. The Rev. Robert Poole, pastor of Clanton Memorial Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Born Dec. 11, 1916 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Philas and Nettie Hartsell Furr. He was an elder in Clanton Memorial Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Ellis Malcolm Furr; two sons, Ricky Furr of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Gary M. Furr of Charlotte; one daughter, Mrs. Judy Johnston of Matthews; one brother, E.K. Furr of Concord; and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys VonCannon of Locust and Mrs. Edith Deal of Concord. Friends are sending memorials to the American Heart Association, 1351 E. Morehead St. The family will receive friends form 8 to 9 tonight at Harry and Bryant Funeral Home.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, August 1, 1978
