Death
Mrs. Ellis Malcolm Furr, 88, formerly of Pineville, passed away on August 24, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Furr was born April 1, 1919, the daughter of John and Beulah Malcolm of Charlotte and the last surviving child of six children. She was preceded in death in 1975 by her husband of 39 years, Norman. She was loved by her large family. She is survived by daughter, Judy Johnston and her husband, Harry, and sons, Rick Furr and his wife, Mary Jane, and Gary Furr and his wife, Robin. Mrs. Furr had 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mrs. Furr was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed traveling, fishing and watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves. She was a member of Ebenezer Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Furr's life will be held Sunday, September 2, at 3 PM at Clanton Presbyterian Church, 335 Freeland Lane, Charlotte, where Mrs. Furr was a charter member. John Cleghorn and Cooper Freeman will officiate. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
